Vacations with Kids

Summer has come to a close. Another school year is upon us. You probably miss having your kids home with you right?

Maybe you had numerous vacations with kids over the past summer. If you felt that those vacations could have been better, let me give you some ideas. This will help ensure that your next vacations with kids will be one they don’t forget.

Make kids the focus of your summer. This is especially important if your kids are on the traditional school track where they attend school nine months out of the year. After a whole year in school they want to have a nice and fun break.

Plan activities that are kid friendly. Pack a picnic lunch and go to a local park for part of the day. If your community has a swimming pool, make a play date with some neighbors. Buy a slip-n-slide and lay it out on your front lawn.

Consider the weather. Make sure that your kids are comfortable if they are spending time outdoors. Ensure that they are properly hydrated. Have them wear sunscreen. Dress them in clothes that breath easy.

Plan rest and relaxation time. If it is too warm outdoors, do something indoors instead. Plan a short nap time to help kids rejuvenate.

If your vacations with kids involve traveling long distance, plan stops. Keep your children entertained with a movie on a portable dvd player if possible. Crossword puzzles or books are another option.

Getting out at the gas station and walking around for five minutes or doing some jumping jacks will help on that long road trip. Have kids count the number of different colored cars that they see on the highway. There are a variety of different road games that you can play.

Follow these tips to ensure that your vacations with kids are enjoyable!
